Delete your account

Effective: Effective 1 June 2026

This page explains how to delete your CertSafe account, what data we remove when you do, and how to request deletion if you no longer have the app installed.

1. Delete from inside the app (fastest)

If you have the CertSafe mobile app or web wallet installed and you can sign in:

  1. Open CertSafe and sign in.
  2. Tap Profile (bottom-right tab).
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
  4. Confirm the prompt. Deletion happens immediately and is irreversible.

2. Request deletion by email

If you no longer have the app installed, or you can't sign in, email hello@certsafe.ai from the address on your CertSafe account. We process requests within 30 days (usually much faster) and confirm by email once your account and data are gone.

You can use these prefilled links to start the email:

3. What we delete

When you delete your CertSafe account, we permanently remove:

  • Your account record (name, email, phone, password hash).
  • Self-uploaded certifications and the image / PDF files you uploaded.
  • Training history and audit logs tied to your account.
  • Push notification tokens and your notification history.
  • Your CertSafe public profile (the QR-shareable page).
  • Authentication and session records.

4. What stays (and why)

Some records are not ours to delete unilaterally:

  • Certificates issued to you by an issuer (a training company, licensing body, or employer) stay in the issuer's own record system. They are the system of record for the credentials they issued. If you want those deleted, contact the issuer directly.
  • Anonymised analytics and aggregate counts (e.g. "total certs in CertSafe") that no longer identify you may be retained.
  • Records we are legally required to keep (e.g. tax records related to any paid features, fraud / abuse logs, or where law enforcement has issued a hold) are retained for the period required by law.

5. Deletion is irreversible

Once your account is deleted you cannot recover it. If you sign up again later you will start with an empty wallet — certs you previously self-uploaded will not come back. Certs that were issued to you by an issuer may be re-attached if the issuer re-sends them to your email.

6. Questions

Email hello@certsafe.ai if you have any questions about deletion, retention, or your privacy rights under GDPR, CCPA / CPRA, or similar laws.
